Ongoing Research and Development

National is on the forefront of development for the inspection and remediation of Chinese or Defective Drywall. In October of 2009, National released its preliminary Defective Drywall Certified Inspection protocol. This protocol is intended to provide critical inspection information to homeowners with Defective Drywall and qualify homes for the proposed warranties being developed by National.

Defective Drywall Limited Warranties

National completed warranties for homes with and without Defective Drywall. Warranty approval was June 30th 2010.

Remediation Clearance Warranty

The 10-Year Remediation Clearance Limited Warranty was written for homes that had Defective Drywall, but have gone through the required remediation process, including required inspections. The warranty assures homeowners that the Defective Drywall has been removed and that residual off-gassing will be maintained below the accepted standards throughout the term of the warranty. The warranty can be extended to the full 10-Year term anytime or renewed at the end of the term. The warranty will automatically transfer to a new owner and there are no deductibles or transfer fees. The  coverage limit is $100,000 and can be increased to $500,000 with additional premium payments. This is a limited warranty and subject to changes in terms, conditions, and restrictions.

Drywall Clearance Limited Warranty

This warranty is to assure new home buyers that the home they are purchasing does not contain Defective Drywall. Due to the difficulty in determining if a home has any Defective Drywall, home buyers are understandably concerned that they may be purchasing a home that could ruin them financially. The Drywall Clearance Warranty was written to eliminate those concerns and restore the full value of the home. If any Defective Drywall is discovered during the term of the warranty, the full cost of the remediation necessary to clear the home of any Defective Drywall, or the off-gassing effects of Defective Drywall, will be paid for through the warranty benefits. The coverage limit is $100,000 and can be increased to $500,000 with additional premium payments. This is a limited warranty and subject to changes in terms, conditions, and restrictions.
